What makes Homosassa so special?  Homosassa is a small town on the west coast of Florida.  It is known for manatee, fishing and scalloping.  The people are friendly and consist of mostly retired individuals, younger working adults and families.  Once you travel back into old Homosassa you will find a quiet neighborhoods, and lots of water.  Mostly canals leading to the Homosassa river and on to the Gulf of Mexico.  We fell in love with Homosassa many years ago when our kids were young and have spent many vacations in Homosassa ourselves.  We love to go to MacRae's and watch the birds along the river and the fisherman cleaning their catch.  Some of the best seafood can be found in Homosassa.  Scallop season is a fun time in Homosassa.   The town is busy with people from all over Florida and other tourists, here to enjoy catching scallop in the Bay.  Scallop season is July 1st through September 24th in Citrus County.
